Prerequisites
Custom Dimensions

Custom Dimensions such as BigCommerce’s Page Type or Customer Group need to be defined before they can be used in reports. This is Done in Analytics->Property->Custom Definitions->Custom Dimensions. Create the content groupings as shown below and once done, map each dimension index to the corresponding field in Tag Rocket’s GA settings.

Content Grouping

Sometimes, it is very useful in GA reports to group pages by their BigCommerce Page Type, Category or Brand. In order to facilitate this, extra content groupings are required. This is done in Analytics->View->Content Grouping. Create the content groupings as shown below and once done, map each dimension index to the corresponding field in Tag Rocket’s GA settings.

Report View ID

Entering your report view id enables the app to provide links directly to your reports in Google Analytics and Data Studio. To enter your id, browse to a report in in your GA3/Universal Analytics view and copy the URL from the address bar into the app setting. It will find your id from that URL. It looks like a123456w123456p123456.

Advanced

Link Click Tracking

Tag Rocket can monitor when your customers click on various types of links on your page such as social media, phone, email, download and external/outbound links and send this information to GA3, triggering conversion goals set up in the Custom Goals & Reports prerequisite – this can then be used to gauge the performance of your site or even fed into advertising campaigns. Disabling this option will stop Tag Rocket sending this information to your Universal Analytics property.

Contact Form Tracking

Tag Rocket can monitor when your customers submit a BigCommerce Contact Form to you and send this information to GA3, triggering the Contact Form conversion goal set up in the Custom Goals & Reports prerequisite – this can then be used to gauge the performance of your site or even fed into advertising campaigns. Disabling this option will stop Tag Rocket sending this information to your Universal Analytics property.

Checkout Tracking

Tag Rocket can monitor the path of customers travelling through your Optimized One-Page Checkout and send this information to GA3, triggering the Order Conversion goal set up in the Custom Goals & Reports prerequisite and provide a funnel visualization via GA3->Conversions->Funnel Visualization (Tag Rocket | Order) – this can then be used to gauge the performance of your checkout. Disabling this option will stop Tag Rocket sending this information to your Universal Analytics property.

Reports
Missing Pages

Tag Rocket can track when customers visit pages that are missing and cause a 404 error. This can help identify a page needs restoring, invalid links or the need for a redirect. These errors can then be identified via our Missing Pages report.

JavaScript Errors

Tag Rocket can track JavaScript errors that occur when your customer navigates your site. These errors can then be identified via our JavaScript Errors report. Clicking an error will drill down to page-level metrics

Console Errors

Tag Rocket can track Console errors that occur when your customer navigates your site. These errors can then be identified via our Console Errors report. Adding a Secondary Dimension of “Page” will drill down to page-level detail

Unauthorized Pages

Tag Rocket can track when customers visit unauthorized pages which may indicate unwanted links to the page or illicit activity. These can then be identified via our Unauthorized Pages Report.
